It does tell you where the material comes from (whether it is a mission reward, what type of settlement it can be found at, what type of locker, etc), which is a crowdsourced info, though I don't know if it is managed manually or whether the system updates that automatically from others using the program. Some Odyssey materials depend on building types instead of faction states, which are likely going to be static so long as the type of the industry of the system doesn't change (I don't know if another faction expanding in that system can change that).ĮDEngineer tracks where YOU have obtained any given material in the past, but it doesn't show data from others in terms of raw numbers. There are some exceptions - RAW engineering materials have fixed spawn positions as do some manufactured ship engineering materials in certain locations. So, basically, unless what you are looking for has been found in that system today, it's very likely completely irrelevant already. And most everything in the game depends on faction states in a given system. I want to point out that background simulation (BGS for short) of Elite is constantly changing states of all factions throughout the entire galaxy, which means that what has been available at some point in one location might be completely gone the next day.
